A finance department student of Dhaka University died of dengue at a private hospital in Dhaka Friday evening.
Deceased Firoz Kabir Swadhin was a resident of Jatir Janak Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall.
The hall provost Professor Mofizur Rahman said that Firoz died of dengue at Square Hospital around 9:30pm while he was undergoing treatment there.
Firoz was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital with dengue infection on July 18 and, as his condition improved, relatives took him to their Thakurgaon home where his condition deteriorated.
He was again brought to the DMCH, from where he was shifted to Square Hospital where he died.
Earlier, according to government data, at least 7,513 dengue patients were hospitalised in the capital alone during the past 26 days of July which took the number of patients to 9,657 in total this year. According to official data, a total of eight people died from the infection.
